The raw ingredients in Lapland are the purest in the whole world and Lapland Hotel Sky Ounasvaara has dedicated its work to praise local ingredients. Fishes from the winding clear streams, game, reindeer and wild herbs have enticed the taste buds of visitors from all around the world. Finnish as well as Italian Chefs have been deeply amused by the Lappish gastronomy and therefore they are willing to join the crew of the kitchen every now and then.”
Chef Matti Jämsen has worked in various top restaurants in Finland as well as abroad for example at restaurant Chez dominique in Helsinki and restaurant Bagatelle in Oslo. While working in Berlin 2009 he also achieved a Michelin star as a sous chef in restaurant Die Quadriga. Last year he took charge of the famous restaurant G.W Sundmans, which has a reputation of being one of the top restaurants in Scandinavia. Matti is also 2011 Food and Fun winner.
Matti Jämsen was the candidate of Finland in Bocuse d’Or competition in Lyon 2011, where he achieved 5th place. Bocuse d’Or is the most appreciated cooking competition in the world. He has also won Finland’s “chef of the year” competition in 2005.
Melodious-voiced Kanerva performs with his band and solo guitar. She in the singer behin well known Finnish songs like “Herra Heinäkuu”, “kaksi poikaa” and “Viisitoista”. Kanerva is also the person behind Vantaas Theaters Silkkisalin Silkki club. At Dinner in the Sky Kanerva will present her own creation and some borrowed production.
Johannes Salomaa is a Helsinki-based saxophonist and Boston Promenade Big Band Orchestras bandmaster. He can be heard in various pop, soul and jazz bands. His rhythm & blues band Hutera is just recording their first publication. Come and enjoy warm August nights in the sky and listen to Johannes’ gentle saxophone.
Tomas Takolander is a true musical multi-talent. The singer, trumpeter, guitarist and pianist, multi-instrumentalist performs alone or in various ensembles and professional choirs, he also works as a teacher, conductor, arranger and composer. Tomas has been working with a number of Finnish and foreign musicians, composers, orchestras, choir-leaders and dancers. He´s performance in the Dinner in the Sky adds great value to our event.
Klaara Koivunen is 21-year-old musician from Turku. Despite her young age she has been learning music for 16 years and has been on toured alone, as well as with various ensembles and larger collectives. Klaara’s repertoire includes piano, saxophone, clarinet, guitar and singing. Her style is pop, jazz and soul. As a versatile musician, she gives a lot to the Dinner in the Sky programm!
